    They went safely until nearing Blarney and they were warned there by cousins of Mrs Bride's that there was no hope of getting through the soldiers who were all round Cork City. Poor "Congo" was now very weak as a result of his wound but a drop of brandy and hot milk revived him. It was then arranged to leave the four-wheeler (which was returned to Kanturk next day), and to finish the journey on a car which supplied milk twice daily to Cork City. That evening the two ladies, with their patient, set out on the milk car driven by the usual milkman.
