- There were many "weavers" in this locality long ago who made flannels for various uses. The bán-ín (flannel waistcoat) was worn very much. Women were skilled in making quilts on a special frame and "bandle-cloth" from flax was made into sheets, shirts, dish-cloths, &c
The "turners" made wooden utensils for the dairy:- Mórnáin (Pails) tubs, "keelers", skimming dishes and pigíní (a small wooden drinking vessel)
Straw mats, straw hives and straw mattresses were made in the homes generally during the long winter nights.
The caoladóir (basket maker) in the district was called "Jack the Bog". His house was built on a piece of land from which had cut away turf some years ago. There was a sgiathóg and a [?] in every farm yard.- Collector
