- Wheels are made by carpenters. They obtain the timber from trees, grown in dry places. They cut them in suitable lengths to make the stock, spokes, and felloes, the spokes are made of oak, the stock is made of ash, and the felloes of elm, and then left season for two years at least. He makes the stock, and fits the spokes into it, the felloes are then put on it. It is taken to a smith to get an iron band put around it. A metal box is put in the middle of the stock where the axle is working, it is painted, and is then fit for use.
