    Long ago the people dyed the wool with a plant called yellow root. They pulled the yellow root washed it, and boiled it. The garment was steeped for four days in the yellow dye and it came out a dark brown, and it was generally used for woolen garments.

    Long ago the people made their own dyes. They made a dye from hay and stable manure. They boiled the hay and manure, and left them colour the water. Then they strained off the liquid and threw away the fodder. They boiled the clothes in the liquid and after a short time they gave it a second dyeing with log wood and copperas.
