   I. The birds sweetly sang and the winds safely blew. As I tripped out one morning to walk in the dew. To walk through the dew, through the fields and brake. In the beautiful valley, the valley of Peake. II. We walked by the river, that glides by the bridge. To watch how its waters were heaved by the ridge. How quietly(?) it foamed and the ripples did break. To add to the beautiful valley of Peake. III. Down by Miss Lindsay's we next took our way. Viewing its sweetness, we might go astray(?). We met one who managed for Miss Lindsay's sake. In the beautiful valley, the valley of Peake. IV. We spoke of the weather, we spoke of the land. We said the valley looked smiling and grand. We spoke of old Erin 'till the echoes did break. In the beautiful valley, the valley of Peake. V. Alas my friend there is no use in bail. He is safely lodged in the Cork County Jail. In a dark lonely cell for old Erin's sake. He is far from the beautiful valley of Peake.
