    would cure him." Then the cats disappeared and the old man crawled out from under the stones. He went to the well rubbed some water to his eyes and got cured. Then he took a bottle of water from the well and set off for the king's house. The footmen and servants were reluctant to let him in as they thought he was an old tramp but he persuaded them to let him in and they did so. When he came to the room in which the boy was, the doctors left it. He told the boy to drink some of the water and that he would get cured. The boy took a sup of the water and began to vomit. He called for a dish and then took another sup and vomited nine lizards and then he got on. Then the old man got a bag of gold and a white horse as payment and rode off home. When he had almost reached home the children saw him and ran to their mother saying "Tá Dadaí ag teacht ar dhrom chapaill báin agus mála óir aige." The rich man walked in and was surprised to see his brother counting out the gold on the floor as he thought he had been dead under the
