- Storms rage frequently in this locality owing to its bleak position near the Atlantic Ocean. Sometimes a land storm takes place, other times it is a sea storm and very often both take place at the same time.
A fearful storm raged through the neighbourhood about nine years ago. This storm prevailed during the festival of Christmas, and it was not a very happy one for the people as they were in dread of the gale. Many houses were broken, and a few were left almost roofless. Hay - shed were knocked and over-turned. Many tomb-stones were knocked in the local cemetries, and(continues on next page)
