a number of other damages were also caused.
A crew of fishermen went out fishing in a "seine" boat in a place called "Tráigh An Phéarla" about two miles from this district. The fishermen left the coast early in the evening. They were not gone very far when signs of a storm appeared. They kept rowing however and after a little while the storm arose. They tried to bring the boat back to the strand, but they did not succeed in doing so. The boat was overturned, and every member of the crew was thrown into the sea and drowned. The boat was completely destroyed, and the tragedy was considered to be one of the most disastrous ever witnessed in the locality.
