  1. Between Oileán Aobhlach and the mainland there is a very narrow channel and the cliff rises up very high on both sides. This place is called “Sgoil”. There is a black streak running down along the side of the cliff on the mainland side and it continues up along the cliff on Oileán Aolbhach. The same streak continues westward and can be seen again on the cliff back at the Dursey Head. This streak is called "Bóthar Bó Gaílon." The Gaílon Gabha was supposed to have been living in Oileán Aolbhach one time and this was the road along which he used drive his cow.
“Cinnibh suas fé’n mbád" – That’s what the old people would say when they would want you to pull a little to keep the boat from drifting.
