  1. Marriages take place during the Shrove that is from the Twelfth Day to Ash Wednesday. The people say that Mondays and Fridays are they unlucky days for getting married. May is an unlucky month. Matches are made in this district. In olden times when people were getting married they used to invite the people to the wedding. There were no motor-cars at that time so they came on sidecars to the wedding. When they would be coming home from the marriage they would light some straw and turf on the roadsides. They also tied old buckets and cans to the sidecars.
During the wedding "Straw-boys" visit the house. The boys of the village gather together and dress up in old clothes, false-faces and tie straw-ropes on their feet. The people of the house give them drink.
