- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)also used. At the top of each layer a row of bobbins was placed. The layers were then trimmed with a knife to make them even.
Burning of lime. In olden times lime-kilns were made of clay and stone. They were made narrow at the top and the bottom and wide in the centre. The kiln was then filled up with turf. On the top were placed lime stones broken by the hammer. It was then set on fire underneath, and when the kiln burned down nearly half way it had to be renewed again with turf and stone and so on until the kiln was filled up with lime.
