    watching and listening to what was going on. He saw one girl take a goose and kill it. Another plucked it. Another woman started to make a fresh fire on the hearthstone. A man playing pipes, came over and sat on the side of his bed. Some more began dancing. By this time the boy was terrified. He jumped out of bed and ran down to the bedroom below where the rest of the family were sleeping when one of the strange people let him on the back with the goose he was plucking. Just as he was going through the doorway he fainted.
