  2. Poets
    The Irish people from even the most remote ages were famous for their love of songs and poems, especially the songs of his or her own district.
    In Kilmore in the County Roscommon there dwelt a man named Hanly. This man composed a great many songs about Kilmore and places around it. In one of his songs he speaks of a famous racing mare which was owned by John O Beirne. The song is as follows : -
