  1. Home-made toys.
    The young boys and girls in my district at the present day, are very fond of toys. Owing to this when they have spare time, they find great amusement in making their own toys.The principal toys the boys make are, tops, guns, bird-cradles, snares, and slings. The girls mostly make daisy chains and dolls.
    This is the way the boys make a sling. First they get a bit of leather about five inches long. Then they put two holes at each end of the bit of leather. They put a thin piece of leather about five inches long also into each of these two holes. When this is finished and well done, it is called a sling. The boys use this for throwing stones. Snares are made as follows. First of all some of the boys buy snare wire. Now they twist this wire into little coils, and they leave a loop of the wire resting on the coils. They take the end of the wire, and pull it through the loop. Now they tie the wire to
