- The Local landlord of Derryhanee was Mr. Ashley Lefavy. The family were settled in the district for over sixty years. When Mr. Ashley died his wife succeeded him. St married Mr. Langly Lefavy. He was succeeded by his nephew, Mr. Lefavy. They were very good landlords. They evicted some of the tenants. The evicted went out in the bogs and built themselves bog-houses, others went to America.
Farms were sub-divided among two members of a family or marriage. Tithes were collected by the landlord or his agent from the heads of houses. They were collected both in money and in kind. Sometimes the people.(continues on next page)
