- Cromwell was in Graige in the year 1649. He destroyed the Abbey Church and killed twelve priests. The Abbey floor was then six feet lower than the present one. Mr Patrick O'Leary buried their twelve relics there. Mr E.A. Hughes has a stone which the English used when sharpening their swords to cut off the priests' heads. When he got it it was covered with blood. He also has a stone with some letters on it.
