    In olden times the people of the district had many old customs. Most of these are still in use amongst their descendants. Some of these are held on:-
    St. Martin's Day which falls on the 11th November. It is an old custom that the people from the locality kill a cock and sprinkle the blood on the door-step of the buyers in order to bring blessings on the family for the coming year, and to keep diseases from the animals. No mills are worked on that day, because St. Martin was killed in a mill on
