David Wales of Crappagh, Newbliss says that...

David Wales of Crappagh, Newbliss says that Eddie Thompson's father told him that the men used to get tea when they'd stop digging at night and that was all the tea they'd get. That was over 80 years ago. E. Thompson is over 60 years of age now & his father is dead a long time.
The same man told him that the women used to keep a grain of tea in their pockets so that they'd never be short & in case the other members of the family would use it all.
