  1. When the sun sets red you are on for fine weather and when the sun sets glittering you are on for bad weather. When there is a halo around the moon and the sky is full of stars you are on for bad weather.
    When the wind blows from the North-east at night it is the sign of good weather and when it blows from Castlemaine you are on for bad weather. The local sayings are:-
    "If soot falls or if the salt gets wet in the kitchen you are on for bad weather." The wind from Castlemaine brings bad weather to my district. When there are clouds in the sky - the shape of a fish you are on for a storm.
    If you see sheep going for the top of a hill it is the sign of dry weather. When the hens begin to pick themselves it is the sign of fine weather.
    When the crows fly high going to their nests at night you are on for fine weather and when - they fly low you are on for bad weather. When the swallows fly high you are on for fine weather. When the cat sits with his back to the fire it is the sign of snow. When the dog sleeps all day it is the sign of bad weather. If you have a rainbow i the morning it a sure sign of rain and when there is a rainbow at night it is a sign of fine weather. If the fog comes on the hill in the
