    churning was in progress, a live coal was taken from the fire and placed under the churn ; II No man was allowed to leave the house with a lighted pipe ; III No loan was given during the time churning was in progress. If anybody came in while the people were churning they had to take a "Dreas."

  2. The churn which we have at home is made of cedar wood. It contains when full about five gallons of cream. There is a handle at the side which when twisted turns the dash.
    When the milk is brought in from the byre it is taken to a dairy to be strained into fresh milk pans. After a short time the cream which comes to the top is skimmed and collected for the churn. The milk that is
