  1. Shrove is the season in which marriages take place in this locality. May is considered the most unlucky month and Friday the most unlucky day.
    Match-making:-
    Some friend of the intended groom is sent to the prospective bride’s house to “introduce” the match. If the girl and her parents are pleased, a date is fixed on which both parties are to meet. At this meeting all arrangements are made with regard to the dowry, date of marriage and wedding-feast. The dowry usually consists of money.
    Wedding-day:-
    On the eve of the wedding day the groom accompanied by some friends visits the bride and stays till midnight, this is called “watching the bride.” In the morning of the marriage the groom and the best-man and a few
