    to keep the butter fresh.
Long ago when there were no creameries to be had, the people used to take half the day churning, and they used to have firkins of butter, and go to the nearest town (Sligo) and sell it there.
The special carpenter they had for making firkins was called Cooper.
The Cooper that did the work in my district was Flynn.
