    I'll be with you De Velara

    Up the streets of New York city, marched an Irish lad in green,
    Who, I am told was one of De Valera's men.
    And as I chanced to meet him I no doubt did kindly greet him,
    When he told me of his troubles there and then.
    Chorous:
    I'll be with you, de Valera, when the rifles ring again.
    I'll parade the Dublin Mountains with your men.
    I don't forget the day, though an exile far away.
    When our lovely flag first floated at Ringsend.
    He told me of the Rising, and how Pearse's men in green
    For six days fought the "Tommies", ten to one.
    Till they sent in long range guns, against a few of Ireland's Sons.
    And to burn Dublin City to the ground.
    When Pearse saw the town in danger, its children and its wives.
    His orders were "Surrender", loud and clear,
    "We must save the town" he cried, "tho' our
