  1. The burning of the Kilmactranny Creamery
The Kilmactranny creamery was burned in the year 1921.
Nobody could tell who burned it because it was burned at night.
I wasn't born at that time but I heard the old people say It was a pure mass of ruin.
All the machinery was burned to ashes. It was a great loss to the milk suppliers. The people having to wait some time until it was reconstructed.
It was reconstructed in the year 19-24.
All the books and accounts were destroyed. Shareholders had to send their milk a long way to outside creameries for three years. It is working well since and pays a good price for the milk.
Transcribed by a member of our volunteer transcription project.
