  1. St Patrick's day always falls on 17th March and on that day there does be a procession held in every Parish. My father told me that he played the fife for years with the brass band. They used to march in a procession around the parish and hundreds of people used to follow them. St. Patrick's day everybody wears something green and they also wear the Shamrock on that day. The reason they used to wear the green because it is our National colour. St Patricks day the fair is held in Castleblekeney and the people gather's from all the local villages and come's in to Castleblakeney. In the evening they go into the shops and they all get drunk it is an old saying to drown the Shamrock
