   The people in Oughterard sow potatoes every year. The man of the house that sows them. The kind of manure they put on them is stable manure and juana. They get the juana from Galway. Some people sow them in ridges and others sow them in drills. They make them either with a spade or with a plough. They buy the spades in the shop. A Kinnevey man in Camp makes spade handles. The people cut the parts of the potatoes with the eyes in them for the seeds. The people make holes in the ground, with a stick and they put the potatoes into them. Then they close the holes and when the stalks come up they put juana on them. Then they sod them and then they mould them. When the stalks are fairly high the people spray them for fear the blight would come on them. They put it on with a machine. Those that have not much potatoes put it on woth a heather broom. The people make pits in the field and
