  2. " The Epiphany " ( Little Christmas ) "

    Little Christmas falls on the 6th January. An old custom was that the people made a cake of clay. Then made twelve rush candles and stuck the candles in the clay cake. Each person knew his own candle and the person whose candle would burn out first would be first to die.

    " St Stephen's Day "
    The 26th Dec. is the feast day of St Stephen. It is not a holiday of obligation but the people don't work on that day in honour of St Stephen. Many people go to visit their friends on that day as it is an idle day.
    On St Stephen's Night dances are held in every district; all the boys and girls of the district attend at the parochial hall.
