    Have ye heard of how the harnessed the Shannon Electricity for to produce;
    And they worked at it year after year
    To make it a smashing success.

    The Shannon, for mileage three hundred,
    With water it's now overflown;
    And because it ran short of this liquid
    'Twas the cause of their scheme overthrown.
    3.
    Now they are going to raise up Lake Allen,
    To keep there a water supply:
    And they say they'll send up for Belhavel ,
    For fear this lake would run dry.
    4.
    So farmers who live in the lowlands,
    A wise man's advice you should take;
    And don't be caught soft by Belhavel,
    The day that she'll head for the lake.
