  1. Long ago there were two men with two hounds hunting. Suddenly a hare ran from behind a furze bush. One of the dogs bit him on a hind leg but could not hold him. The hare ran very fast and the men and the hounds followed him until he went into a small thatched house. He leaped in through an open window in the side of the house. They searched inside but could find no hare. The only saw an old hag sitting on a stool. She was panting loudly and one of her legs was bleeding.
