    Potatoes 1st June 1938.
Every year in my district the farmers would sow much potatoes and the best potatoes that grow are the stripe champions and they grow very big and are flowery for eating. First the farmers plough the land and he makes ridges , he puts three sods one way and three more against them and that is a ridge.Long ago the people used to make ridges with an iron spade mdae by a blacksmith .At last a man made a wooden plough .It used to be made from a bog oak because it would be the hardest timber. There are two handles on it and a place for a sock about half a yard long.
