    of land. De Viara was landlord before Maxwell, and when he died, his wife married Maxwell. He never raised the rent on anyone who improved their farm or their house. Landgrabbers were very plentiful at the time, and they tried to get all the land but it failed them. He sold his property under the Ashbourne Act in the year 1885.
