  1. During the reign of James a very thickly populated estate in the vicinity of Clough, West Galway was owned by Andrew Lynch. Close on two or three miles from Clough was situated a church called Cilins.
    The church to the minds of men was haunted but unfruitfully did they think 'till the staunch farmers of Clough were met by a spirit which strayed from the church in the form of a ''Long Black Hand''.
