- One Day I was down on the quay watching the fishing boats come in. Suddenly a lot of sea gulls came in the direction of the land shrieking and a fisherman said it was a sign of bad weather at sea. I asked him for some more and he told me these-
1. When the seabirds are flying high it is a sign of good weather
2. When the evening is red and the morning is grey it is a sign of a fine day.
3. When the morning is red and the evening is grey be prepared for bad weather
4.An old belief is that to kill a spider is a sign of bad weather
5. When there are soldiers on the kettle it is a sign of bad weather
6. When the wind is from the north or north-east it is a sign of a very cold winter- Collector
