Nuair a bhí sé ar a sheachnadh bhéodh sé in a luighe ar leac ós cionn na fairrge ag Tráigh na Rosann ins an oidhche. Lá amháin bhí Diarmuid ag siubhal thart agus chonnaic sé Fionn cróchta anuas ós cionn beinn. Bhí Fionn ag sgairtigh leis é a shabáil acht ní thug Diarmuid áird ar bith air.
