- About fifty years ago the country boys and girls used not wear a shoe until they were full grown The footwear they were most accustomed to were troighcíns,
that is old woollen stocking with the soles cut out and holes left for their toes in the top.
The men that could afford it had two pairs of shoes, one light pair for Sunday and strong shoes or clogs on week days.
Some of the clogs were bought in the shop while the soles of others were bought and uppers of shoes nailed on to(continues on next page)- Collector
