    their nests, lay their eggs, and rear their young. They return to us on the approach of winter, generally in November. The earlier they come the more severe the winter is going to be it is thought.
    Of the other wild varieties the cuckoo and the swallow are migratory also. They go to the southern countries in autumn and return again in the end of spring.
    The tomtit builds its nest in crevices or holes in walls. The nest is made of little blades of dry grass, hair, wool and feathers to make it cosy and warm.
    She lays about six eggs of a pale blue colour
