    that she is milked twice a day.
    My father feeds the cows, my mother milks them, and my brothers and I drive them to and from the field. In winter and spring we give them hay, straw, turnips cabbage, and some mashes also. During the nights of summer we cut green grass and give it to them.
    We have the thievish cow tied during the day, to prevent her from going into the tillage. She is tied by means of a hemp rope from the foremost foot to the hind foot. The rope is called a spanciel. My father takes it off her before she goes into the house in the evening, and he puts it on her before he lets
