- Once upon a time there were three women who were witches. They had been chased from Connacht to the Inver banks where they lived for years in a cave down below the Inver houses. For a long time they lived on human beings. They used to kill their victims with a "Mideach", whatever it was. When it struck them it killed them instantly. These three old witches used to sell "dilisk" and sloke which they picked off the rocks and beach at Inver. One day as they were out through the country selling some of this, they reached Meenabraden. They went into a house where there was a very fine stout girl.
