  1. Marriages in the district usually take place during Shrove. This season occurs each year, between the 6th January and Shrove Tuesday. It is said that the unlucky days to marry are Monday, Tuesday and Saturday
There are a lot of local sayings, connected with Shrove and marriages: here is one of them:-
    Monday for health,
    Tuesday for wealth,
Wednesday the best day of all,
    Thursday for losses,
    Friday for crosses,
    Saturday no luck at all.
