  1. Long ago they used not eat meat on St. Stephen's day. They used to offer it up so as to keep away all harm for the year.
    People do not sweep out dust or throw out water or lend or borrow on New Year's Day because it is said what ever you do on New Year's Day you will be doing it all the year. Some people think you should not throw out dirty water at night without saying, "Chugar, Chugar." because you might wet the fairies.
    On November's Day the fello[ws?] used to go around pulling cabbage and throwing it at the doors of the houses. They have indoor games also. They hang an apple from the ceiling and all the children of the house
