    oatmeal bread. It was very hard bread.
    They did not eat much meat. The meat they would eat was cured. They used to eat fish. A man would go about the district selling herrings. The people called him a "herring seller." Herrings were the chief fish the people used to eat. They has special food on certain occasions. They had special food for Christmas and for St. Martin's Night. There were no cups that time. Noggins were the vessels that were used.
