  1. There was a Saint in this district long ago. His name was St. Patrick. He had no church in this district. He visited Holywell in the year 632 and the tracks of his knees are on the flagstone outside the well. It is called St. Patrick's well, since. St. Patrick worked no miracles. There are people called after St. Patrick. The people go to Croagh Patrick the last Sunday in July in honour of St. Patrick. There is a pattern on the 28th of August in honour of St. Patrick. St. Patrick's day is kept in honour of him. There is a great feast on the 17th of March to make a pilgrimage. The prayers the people say are five haily Mary's and five Our Fathers.
