    The people had to lie flat on the ground or they also would be swept away. Then hens had to be flat, and other fowl were carried away for miles. When the storm was over there wasn't many to be seen.
    There was a great flood in Ireland one time. It continued raining for seven weeks non-stop. Part of the roads, bogs and fields were flooded. Nobody got drowned but the crops failed to grow and the turf ceased to dry. Houses which were built in hollow places were surrounded by water. There was a great drought in Ireland about a 100 years ago. It dried a lake that is in this parish.
