    throughout the barony. The Kilmain Barony is considered to be the best land in Connacht.
    There is a lake to the West end of this village. It is 1/4 Mile in length and 400 years wide. They say a mermaid dwells there.
    There are numerous stories and amusing tales told about the lake.
    Here is one -
    A Person stood on a height which stands over-looking the lake. He gazed down on the deep, blue water. What did he see? An unexpected view a town at the bottom thronged with people.
