“Long ago there was a well in this parish and it was a great cure for sore eyes.”
Long ago there was a well in this parish and it was a great cure for sore eyes. The people of the parish used to go there doing ''rounds''. They would have to do three ''rounds'' before the eyes would be cured. Two men went doing a ''round'' one day and the man of the meadow that the well was in, came to them and said to them that they were trampling on his hay, and told them to go out of his land, and the two men walked out. Next day there was a man crossing the meadow and he saw the well covered. After a couple of days all the man's cattle and cows had died and himself died in a few months time.
