Nowadays there are shops throughout the country and it is not necessary to go to the town so often.
A great many pedlars went around the country selling little articles. All the pedlars did not sell the same wares. Some of them sold silk and cloth, others sold delph and others sold small articles such as pins and needles tie pins, shirt studs buttons, clothes brushes (etc)
Nowadays these people are called travellers or tinkers in this district.
These tinkers buy rabbit skins or exchange some small article for them. It is the tinker woman who does the peddling while the men are perhaps trying to swap an ass or a horse with a farmer or gathering sticks to make a fire.
