  1. Tuesdays and Thursdays are supposed to be lucky days to get married.
    It is unlucky to start any new work on a Friday.
    It is unlucky to move from one place to another on a Saturday, as the saying goes "Saturday's flitting makes a short sitting."
    Tuesday is a good day to begin any new work.
    There is a man in Granard who is supposed to have the cure of ring-worm, and he asks the person suffering from it to go to him on Mondays and Fridays: no other day would do.
    The "Cross day of the year" is not known in our district.
    Oats should be sown before the cuckoo comes. If any one is seen sowing oats when the cuckoo is singing the neighbours say "Cuckoo oats".
    Holy Week is considered the best time for putting in crops such as oats and potatoes, and every year people try to get in most
