  1. This well is in Cherrymount, a townland beyond Maperath which is 2 1/2 miles north from Kells.
    A protestant lady named Mrs Challoner had a dog that was suffering from the mange. She took him to the well and washed him there. He was cured of his distemper but the well dried up at once and never re-appeared.
