  2. One day a gentleman rode up to the hall-door of Mr Rowley's House in Maperath. Now by the look of him Mr. Rowley suspected that he was a priest "on the run" and quickly he took him in and asked him who he was The gentleman admitted that he was a priest. Then Mr Rowley hid him in a secret chamber.
    Hardly was this done when the priest-hunters rode up like the wind and pounded on the door. Mr Rowley opened it and the priest-hunters accused him of having a priest in the house. He admitted that
