  1. May flowers are strewn outside the door on May Eve. Also May Bushes are decorated on May Eve.
    Lighted candles are placed in the window on Christmas Eve.
    The house is decorated with Holly and Ivy on Christmas Eve.
    Children hang up their stockings for Santa Claus to fill.
    On Hallow Eve nuts are cracked, and sometimes put on the bars of the grate and named after a certain couple. If they burn cheerfully the pair will be married and live happily.
    If they splutter and jump off there will be trouble.
    On this night also, apples are put into a tub of water, and people try to catch one with the teeth. Or an apple is suspended from the ceiling and they try to catch it with the teeth.This causes great fun.
